HubbuyCN SpreadsheetPartner guide to HubbuyCN

The expensive mistakes are boring ones

Almost nothing on this page is exotic. The orders that go wrong go wrong on arithmetic, on deadlines and on assumptions about what the free check covers. We have put them roughly in order of what they cost, worst first.

Every item names the official page it comes from, because the point is not to trust us. It is to know which page to read when it happens to you.

The strip of four claims HubbuyCN prints about itself across its homepage
Nothing on this strip is wrong. It is just not the part that costs people money.

What goes wrong, in order of cost

The tag on each card is our editorial read of how much damage it does, not a frequency count. We do not have order data and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Worst

Pricing the item and forgetting the freight

The first payment is goods plus domestic shipping. The international freight is a separate decision made later, and on a light cheap item it can be the bigger of the two numbers. Price the second payment before you order, not after. The official Freight Calculation entry asks you to sign in first, so do that early rather than at checkout.

Worst

Letting a forwarded parcel arrive unannounced

A box the warehouse cannot match to an order does not sit on the normal storage clock. The official storage page gives unmatched parcels a much shorter window from the day they were signed for, after which they are treated as abandoned.

Costly

Expecting the check to verify authenticity

The inspection rules describe an appearance check on model, style and size. Sealed goods stay sealed. Checks on appliances and electronics do not cover authenticity, function or quality. If that matters to you, it has to happen before you order, not after.

Costly

Signing for a damaged box without noting it

The receiving guidelines ask you to check the outer packaging and seals before signing, and to note damage or refuse the parcel in front of the courier. A signature on an undamaged looking box is what most refused claims have in common.

Annoying

Ordering the default variant

A pasted link rebuilds the seller listing with whichever colour and size came first, not the one you meant. Check the variant against the original page before it goes into the cart.

Annoying

Treating a 1688 price as a unit price

The official tips flag that 1688 sellers often impose a minimum order quantity. The attractive number you found may assume you are buying ten.

Timing

Two clocks you did not know were running

The first is generous: storage is free for 300 days from the moment an item goes into storage, with a reminder email at day 270. Nothing about a normal order needs you to hurry.

The second is not generous, and it is the one that catches people. A parcel the warehouse cannot match to an order runs on a much shorter window, counted from the day it was signed for. Both windows are HubbuyCN policy from the official storage page, and both can change.

The long clock is printed here along with the reminder that precedes it. The short one is on a different page entirely.

The forwarding form is the whole game

If you take one thing from this page: on the forwarding route, the form is not admin, it is the thing that connects a cardboard box in a warehouse to your name. Courier, tracking number, product link, item name, unit price in CNY, quantity, photo. Submit it the day you post the parcel.

Border

What keeps a parcel boring, and what does not

Boring is the goal. A parcel that looks like a person buying things for themselves moves through the border faster than one that looks like a small importer.

Reads as personal

  • One parcel, mixed contents, sensible weight
  • A declared value that matches what you actually paid
  • A postal or economy route rather than a commercial express one
  • Nothing on the restricted list for that route

Reads as commercial

  • Weight above the point the official page names
  • Many identical items in one box, whatever it weighs
  • Repeated shipments to the same address in a short window
  • Liquids, batteries or pressurised goods on a route that refuses them
HubbuyCN fees page stating the total is the goods price plus international shipping plus duty, with customs declaration usually RMB 8.00
The declaration is a line on this page, not a negotiation. Keeping the parcel ordinary is the whole technique.

When it does go wrong

Speed matters more than being right. Problems found after a normal signature have a deadline measured in hours on the official receiving page, and damage reported when you were not present has one measured in working days, with invoice and photographs required.

The compensation page lists what will not be paid regardless of how fast you are: force majeure, claims that cannot be evidenced, prohibited items seized, an intact outer box with contents missing, and customs seizure among them. Read that list once now rather than at the worst possible moment.
